Northwest Mortgage Group recently moved their Clackamas branch into new digs, and selected artwork from Art, Etc. for their awesome new space.

The canvas photography in the reception area and entry way is by Laurel Jacobson Photography. Laurel is a mortgage assistant at the branch and was instrumental in the selection and design process. Not to mention, an extremely talented photographer!

All 18 of the interior offices were outfitted and staged for their incoming employees.

For the interior corridors and work areas they choose from Art, Etc.’s huge selection of stunning Portland and Northwest landscape photography.

Thank you Northwest Mortgage for choosing to work with Art, Etc.!

Founded in 1995 by partners, Bob Engelke, Larry Unger, Marty Quandt and Jim Smith, Northwest Mortgage Group is built on a philosophy that puts customer service above all else. While the company has grown from a small office in Portland to seven metro offices, all four owners continue to work directly with clients, as well as produce and originate loans.

As a follow up to our recent post featuring Wilson’s work we recently installed for Specht Properties, we thought you might like to see more of his art and get to know him a little better.

Artist Statement:

“All of my life I have been an artist and humbly consider myself among the lucky few who have made a career of it. Art is my translator, it is the way that I view my surroundings and best communicates what I see and feel.

My challenge as an artist has been to develop a style that best invites the viewer inside my world; my thoughts, my dreams, my experiences.

I moved back home to suburban Washington DC a few years ago after living in New York City for more than twenty years where I established my career and made a name for myself as an artist. My travels have taken me to the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Japan, Costa Rica and Mexico where I exposed myself to the sights, sounds, culture and art of each country.

This journey has lead me to work primarily in India ink; a strong, elegant, fluid sensual thick/thin line on a white field, enhanced by a mixed media of watercolor, gouache, pastels, charcoal and acrylic paint.

Using this technique I have begun exploring the concept of communicating ‘feelings,”moods’ and ‘impressions’ of my travels in a visual medium through non-representational, abstract art.”

“My influences were and are Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Al Hirschfeld and Andy Warhol; Picasso for shape and form, Matisse for his mastery of color, Hirschfeld for his virtuoso line and Warhol for his unabashed embrace of art and commerce.”

We recently installed a stunning series of modern giclees by Ty Wilson for Specht Properties. New art was installed in the lobby and the conference room of the Parkway III building in Vancouver. Designer Alice Boczkaj and Architect Gary Rommel completed the beautiful renovation of the building’s common areas.

Interior designer Alice Boczkaj selected six abstracts, which we had custom printed onto fine art paper.  The series included four black and white images, and two with a bit of additional color.

The two color pieces became the signature features, printed in a larger format for the lobby, and framed in a heavy black wood moulding.  The cream mats add an illusion of depth to each framed piece.

A series of four smaller black and white prints were framed in a smaller coordinating moulding and installed in the soon-to-be-completed conference room.

Thanks to Vicki Rising and her team at Specht Properties for allowing us to outfit their new space with artwork.

Artwork has been viewed as evidence of good taste or a signal of power and influence.  Corporate artwork is often utilized as a marketing tool and a vehicle for conveying the company brand, mission, and corporate values.

Gone are the days of posting the logo and mission statement in the lobby and sprinkling a few inspirational posters throughout work areas.  A strong corporate image is one of the most valuable assets any business can have.  We can help you create a corporate art program that is both influential in the marketplace and a sound investment in your company’s image, as well as curate an aesthetically appealing art selection for your workplace.

Leasing artwork is becoming an increasingly popular way to keep the office atmosphere innovative. Many companies regularly change their office art to maintain a fresh and new look.

We have access to a vast amount of artwork, framing materials, and local photography at Art, etc.  Using our products and expertise, you can incorporate a fully-executed art program that will inspire creativity, efficiency, and success for your business.

We recently had an interesting project for longtime client The Standard.

An entire floor in their building was retrofitted for their IT Department, and they needed art for their new conference rooms, common areas, and offices.

But, not just any art, because these were not just your regular conference rooms, as you can see.  Cool, right?

Prior to beginning the project, their IT team gave us a 4-page document that described how they came up with the names for their conference rooms:  UNIVAC, UNIX, Watson, Ethernet, Pentium, and Altair.

Curating artwork to fit their requirements was a bit of a scavenger hunt, requiring us to contact museums and private collections.  Not our typical project, but we were up to the task.  It was so fun, and we got a little tech history lesson, too.  You might even call us geeks!

In the end, we provided an eclectic mix of reproduced and enlarged articles from vintage Popular Electronics magazine,

archived images from the Hagley Museum,

and an assortment of custom framed computer-tech-graphic images.

The Standard offered us a great opportunity not only to install artwork into their new IT Department, but to help tell their story and create an energetic and inspirational workspace for them.

Check out new photos of our project with Oregon Eye Specialists. Their beautiful new space at St Vincent’s was expertly designed by Heidi Payne of Bainbridge Design.  They came to us looking for an art package to finish off the contemporary and sophisticated atmosphere they recently completed.

Their artwork plan included art in the lobby, diagnostic testing area, dilation room and custom framed photos of each doctor.  This project offered a great example of combining differently shaped moldings in the same finish to add interest and customization to the interior.

A great group of doctors and staff to work with at Oregon Eye Specialists – thanks for the opportunity!

We especially love how the doctors’ photos turned out!

Our newest client, Pinnacle Risk Management, recently updated some out-dated photography with new contemporary posters and custom framing. The new art in their Kruse Way Place office was a welcome addition for the staff.

We were very excited to have the chance to work with them. Thank you PRM!

The Corvallis Clinic has completed another phase of their large-scale campus remodel project.  Last week, we installed photography in six newly painted and re-finished Orthopedics exam rooms. The remodel project is looking great! Love the paint colors!

It’s been super fun to work everyone at The Corvallis Clinic, they are really an awesome group of people. We have curated Pacific Northwest photography throughout their campus, including work by photographers: Peter McNamee, Francisco Rangel, Lainey Dwyer, and Ike Leahy.

If your office is ready for an artwork upgrade or you’re interested in seeing more Pacific Northwest photography, let us know – we’d love to work with you.

The City Shines

We would like to introduce you to a wonderful new photographer, Patrick Burke. His photographs are fantastic addition to our Portland photography selection.

Showcasing the place we all live and work in your office is a wonderful way to enhance your office community and culture. We love the way he captures the essence of Portland from his unique perspective.

His “Icon Series” shows The Rose City in a whole new light!

All of Patrick’s work is a fresh take on the local scenery.  In what he calls “watercolor photography”,  he has used a combination of painting and photography, giving these pieces an impressionistic feel.  French Quarter or Old Town, right? Each of these pieces are hand-painted originals and reproductions are available.

Patrick received his BA from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California and currently resided in Portland. We’re delighted to welcome him to the Art, etc. line-up!

One Centerpointe, end of corridor, before addition of new artwork

Two of our favorite ladies on Centerpointe Drive called us about two floors of One Centerpointe that were recently refinished – new carpet paint, lighting and now needed new artwork!

One Centerpointe, end of corridor, after addition of new artwork.

It is, of course, our belief that you just can’t put old art back on newly painted walls. We are so glad the property managers at Norris Beggs & Simpson agree!

One Centerpointe, before

This is a perfect example of how artwork can be the final finish to updating a space. The new artwork pulls together the interiors package, as well as the palette, and it looks great!

Thank you Monique and Caitlin!
