As a follow up to our recent post featuring Wilson’s work we recently installed for Specht Properties, we thought you might like to see more of his art and get to know him a little better.
Artist Statement:
“All of my life I have been an artist and humbly consider myself among the lucky few who have made a career of it. Art is my translator, it is the way that I view my surroundings and best communicates what I see and feel.

My challenge as an artist has been to develop a style that best invites the viewer inside my world; my thoughts, my dreams, my experiences.

I moved back home to suburban Washington DC a few years ago after living in New York City for more than twenty years where I established my career and made a name for myself as an artist. My travels have taken me to the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Japan, Costa Rica and Mexico where I exposed myself to the sights, sounds, culture and art of each country.

This journey has lead me to work primarily in India ink; a strong, elegant, fluid sensual thick/thin line on a white field, enhanced by a mixed media of watercolor, gouache, pastels, charcoal and acrylic paint.

Using this technique I have begun exploring the concept of communicating ‘feelings,”moods’ and ‘impressions’ of my travels in a visual medium through non-representational, abstract art.”

“My influences were and are Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Al Hirschfeld and Andy Warhol; Picasso for shape and form, Matisse for his mastery of color, Hirschfeld for his virtuoso line and Warhol for his unabashed embrace of art and commerce.”
