‘EMBODIMENT’, the Baggetta‘s first ever collaborative artwork series, is currently on exhibition at The Annie Meyer Gallery, located at 120 NW Ninth, Suite 102, in the Pearl District.
The show features original mixed media paintings ranging from small 12-inch square pieces to large-scale originals.
“We are both really excited about this new series of artwork, the first time we have collaborated on a complete and comprehensive body of artwork,” said Mike Baggetta. “It has been a really fun and rewarding experience and all the artwork pieces together in one space will be very dramatic.”
“These figures are an exploration of how we embody a physical form,” Marla said. “Each piece is created by starting with the gesture of the figure and is a process of layering paint, plaster, resin and collage elements; going back and forth between drawing and painting, back and forth between the figure and the background. The way to the finish is different for each piece; each one mining the unconscious, finding our way to the finished work through an intimate collaboration.”
Here at Art, etc we couldn’t be more thrilled for Marla and Mike’s collaboration. We’ve been long-time fans of both artists, and proud to have them on our list of represented local artists.
‘EMBODIMENT’ runs through June 30, with a gala closing reception that evening from 6-9 p.m. The celebration will include a body painter, music, food, and wine tasting.
